Best Deodorants for Teenage Boys
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
When I was in middle school and high school, it seemed like every boy in my school sweated and bled Axe body spray, that’s how powerful the stench of it was. When the bell would ring to go home, it would pour out of the building like fog… (So I may be exaggerating just a bit, but it was still pretty bad.) It was to the point where girl’s wouldn’t really wear perfume, only a light body spray, as not to overpower themselves, as well as the other students, teachers, etc. While teenage boys may embrace puberty more than girls, there are ways of doing so that don’t involve over-indulging in body sprays.
One of the biggest issues, especially with teenage boys, is that they are easily influenced by products that are considered “cool” to their friends, so they are more likely to go towards those products that may not work for them, verses maybe a product that will actually work for them! Especially if your teen has sensitive skin, and he’s bearing with skin irritation just because that one brand is the ‘cool’ brand to use.
Besides having commercials that are annoying, loud, and obnoxious, a lot of those intense deodorants and antiperspirants have unnatural chemicals and aluminum in them that can cause damage to the skin and put heavy toxins into your body when they are not needed at all. So here are some options if you’re looking to get started with wearing deodorant, or you are starting to look for a starting point for your son on what deodorant to use.
Fresh Kidz Boys Blue Deodorant
This deodorant comes in the blue version for boys, as well as in a pink version for girls! This specific deodorant is great in a bunch of ways. The first is that it’s made with all-natural ingredients, unlike some of the bigger brands that use chemicals and other unnatural ingredients in their formulas. So when you or your teen wears it, you know that you’re not putting anything on your body that you would not want. The other really good thing about this product is that it can be used on teens that aren’t quite teens yet. What do I mean by this, you ask? If you have an 7-10 year old who plays sports, you may know that they can still get a bit stinky from being active, even if they’re not breaking a full sweat, or even if your kids are just playing around for a good amount of time. This product is meant for exactly these situations!
Many parents who have reviewed this product have stated that their kids who have used this have been in the 7-10 year age range, so even before they get to the age where they wear it every day, they can at least start getting used to it a bit early on, so it’s not as much of a change later when they do use it on a daily basis.
Tom’s of Maine Wicked Cool! Teen Boys Natural Deodorant
Tom’s of Maine is a great company that is one of the commercial masters of personal care products that use only natural ingredients and formulas, making it known that if you buy one of their products, that you are sure that it’s not made with any harmful chemicals. They also make a wide range of both deodorants and antiperspirants for kids, tweens, teens, and adults, with a variety to choose from to fit your individual needs! However, the Wicked Cool! Teen Boys Natural Deodorant has been very popular as far as mothers recommending it based on their teenagers loving it so much. With a fresh scent that is not girly, overpowering, or anything of that sort, it’s one of the most popular options that we have seen as far as recommendations.
What is really wicked (see what I did there?) about Tom’s of Maine products is that you can easily find them at your local convenience store, pharmacy, or even at your grocery store! On top of being extremely accessible, it’s also not very expensive! Usually with natural products, they cost a small fortune in order to get their ingredients sourced, or to put in the extra labor to find all-natural ingredients, but Tom’s of Maine products are priced just as regularly as its competitors!
Green Tidings Organic All Natural Deodorant
If you are extremely conscious of what you use and are looking for all-natural solutions for an everyday deodorant, than this may be your best bet. This specific deodorant is all natural, and it can be used on anyone! With a light lavender scent, both girls and boys, men and women can use this and not have an overpowering floral scent. It’s just the right amount of coverage for an everyday deodorant that helps you feel fresh and protected! It even has extra strength protection so it’ll still work for you even if you need something with a little extra protection, but still want natural products! It was also voted into the top “4 Best and Natural Deodorants” by Organics.org, so if you don’t believe me… go look it up!
Kids (Brand) Natural Deodorant For Boys
This product is similar to one of the others listed above, in which it’s not specifically intended to be used by those who are teens, but could be if they wished! A lot of reviewers said that their kids used this product, even though they don’t wear deodorant on a daily basis, and most of the reviewers’ kids were around 8-10 years old and using this product.
One of the downsides that I have seen with this specific product is that some reviewers say that it’s a little bit more expensive than some deodorants meant for a younger group, but this seems to be a very good product otherwise, especially if you are trying to transition your young, almost-teen into wearing deodorant every day! Because it looks and feels like an adult-centered stick of deodorant, this is a great way to get your child in the habit of reaching for their deodorant in the morning!
The only other downside that I have notices as well with this particular deodorant is that it’s harder to find than most other options. It’s easily available for purchase on websites like amazon or ebay; however, that’s not always the best option for everyone. Especially if you wish to use it sooner rather than later, you then have to wait for the product to be shipped to your house, which can take a few days. So depending on your preference, it may or may not be easier to find an alternative at a store that is close to you. Because it was a little bit harder to find, it was also a bit difficult to find reviews on it, so the reviews that I did see for this particular product were either raving about the product, or they said that it didn’t do much. There really was not any in-between reviews, it was hard to tell if the product would be mostly liked by the mass market. So go try it for yourself and let us know!
Sure Invisible Solid Deodorant
This is one of those products that you can find basically anywhere, and it’s one of the cheapest options that you can find at convenience stores or even online. It’s less than $2 at most retailers, and a lot of parents that have used it for their teens who have excessive underarm sweating. Even with most antiperspirants not working for their teens, this option had worked for most parents who tried heavy duty antiperspirants, and none of them had worked until they tried Sure.
Right Guard Products
Right Guard is probably the most ‘cool’ version of deodorant that may be on this list, because it has the traditional look, feel, and smell of a ‘man’s’ deodorant. So if your teen did not want to try some of the other deodorants on this list because they want the ‘cool’ or ‘trendy’ deodorant, or anything like that. If you have a teen who plays sports and sweats a good amount, this will probably be your best option!
So before your teen goes for the commercial ‘cool’ or popular deodorant, ask them to maybe reconsider and find something that maybe not only has less harsh and damaging chemicals in it, but may smell better, be gentler on their skin, or whatever the case may be! Most people just automatically go to the one brand that they (or their older sibling/parent/etc.) have been using forever, so that’s what they are used to!
If you have any other deodorants that you or your teen have used and were successful for you, feel free to comment below and let us know! Also, please let us know if you’ve tried any of the deodorants on this list. Did they work for you? Not enough protection, or have any other type of issue with them? Tell us below!
